Evacuation begins

GILGIT, Feb 23: The army aviation helicopters on Friday started evacuating more than 700 passengers who have been stranded owing to rains and snow in Dasu, Barseen and Shitiyal areas to Jaglote in the Gilgit district.

The sources said that army aviation helicopters ferried at least 170 passengers and the body of a pilgrim on Friday. The sources said that their was no adequate supply of food, fuel and shelter there.—Correspondent
