RAWALPINDI, Feb 22: The inter-collegiate student week concluded with a Mushaira and song competition at Government Postgraduate College for Women, Satellite Town, here on Saturday.

The students enjoyed the last day to their heart’s content. The student week is an annual feature in which the students are at liberty to enjoy in their own style.

About five colleges participated in the competition, which was divided into two parts. In the first part, a Mushaira was held in which students recited their poetic works. The theme of poetry was elections.

Government Degree College, Dhoke Illahi Bukhsh, F.G. College for Women, Abid Majeed Road, F.G. College for Women Kashmir Road, F.G. College F-7/2 Islamabad and the host Postgraduate College for Girls, Satellite Town participated in the competition.

The students exhibited their talents through their finely- tuned Ghazals and poems depicting the election scenario, the typical nature of Pakistani politicians and their fraudulent ways to bag votes from the people. Their humorous poems won them massive appreciation.

Anwar Maqsood, a well-known humorist poet and educationist, was chief guest on the occasion. He too did not lag behind and enthralled the audience with his unique style of humorous poems and satirical verses. Tahira Abdul Waheed of F.G. Collage F-7/2, Islamabad, won the prize.

In the second part of the competition, the students clad in colourful clothes presented various songs and folk music, which received wide applause from the audience. A few sketches were also presented, which showed life in our villages.
