ISLAMABAD, Feb 18: Interior Minister Faisal Saleh Hayat said on Tuesday that the interior ministry would take all necessary steps for the early implementation of the Police Order 2002.
Speaking at a briefing on the Police Order held at the National Reconstruction Bureau, he said the interior ministry would utilize all possible ways for the early and effective implementation of the order.
Briefing the minister, the NRB chief, Daniyal Aziz, said that all bottlenecks in the implementation of the Police Order were being removed.
The minister expressed the hope that the Police Order would be able to deliver in an effective manner.
Mr Hayat was apprised about the details of the order and the status of its implementation.
The meeting decided to follow up on hurdles that had cropped up ever since the Police Order had been put into operation.
The meeting decided that meetings with the stakeholders and survey and information on the current situation would be undertaken in this regard.
The meeting discussed the local government elections in Islamabad. The interior secretary, Tasneem Noorani, gave a briefing to the NRB chief about the arrangements made for the holding of the local government polls.
The meeting was informed that the process for holding the polls had been expedited.
