KARACHI, Feb 18: The Central Executive Committee of Sindh Democratic Alliance (SDA) has demanded of the government to take appropriate measures to contain lawlessness and ensure protection to the life and property of the citizens.

The situation obtaining the in the province was discussed by the committee at a meeting here on Tuesday. Imtiaz Shaikh, President of the alliance, chaired the meeting which was attended by Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi, Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, Irfanullah Khan Marwat, Syed Jalal Mahmood Shah, Mir Hassan Khoso, Alhaj Shamimuddin, Syed Khadim Ali Shah and many legislators.

They also discussed political situation in the country and the SDA’s structural affairs.

The meeting expressed concern over the increase in the prices of petroleum products, essential commodities and utilities. It demanded an immediate lifting of ban on government employment.

In a statement issued after the meeting, the SDA demanded fixation of wheat prices before harvesting and procurement of sugarcane crop at the rate of Rs43 per 40kgs as stipulated by the government.

The SDA committee supported the Sindh Assembly’s resolution calling for the reconstitution of the Nation Finance Commission Award and urged the federal government to increase Sindh’s water quota.

The meeting decided to support Asif Mustafa Jatoi and Syed Jalal Mahmood Shah in forthcoming Senate elections.—PPI
