NA session on 26th

ISLAMABAD, Feb 17: President Pervez Musharraf on Monday called the National Assembly to meet on Feb 26 for what an official source said would be the first regular session of the newly elected 342-seat lower house.

The assembly, elected in the Oct 10 general elections, has previously held brief special sessions for its inauguration and election of Prime Minister Zafarullah Khan Jamali in November and then to give the PM a vote of confidence on Dec 30.

But it has not yet conducted any legislative business, which has been done through presidential ordinances since Gen Musharraf seized power on Oct 12, 1999.

The session starting on Feb 26 will be a longer one that will conduct normal legislative business, an assembly source said.
