Jamali’s visit to Karachi postponed

ISLAMABAD Feb 17: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali was forced to postpone his scheduled departure for Karachi on a three-day tour of Sindh on Monday due to the heavy downpour lashing the twin cities for the last two days.

According to official sources, the premier drove to reach the Islamabad international airport on schedule but he was told by the Civil Aviation officials that the plane by which he was to leave was unable to take off due to heavy downpour and insufficient light.

The premier was to drive straight from Karachi airport to the Kingri House, residence of veteran politician and chief of PML(F) Pir Pagara, to hold consultation on the issue of Iraq in connection with his proposed campaign of taking the politicians in confidence on Pakistan’s Iraq policy.

Mr Jamali during his Sindh visit was scheduled to hold meetings with the provincial government officials, coalition component party MPs and opposition party leaders as well as to attend APNS award giving ceremony on Wednesday.
