KARACHI, Feb 17: Reckless driving claimed two lives in the city since late Sunday night.

A young man died in a road accident in Mohcko police limits late Sunday night.

The police said that Wahid Bakhsh, aged 35, was knocked down by an unknown speeding vehicle near Naval Colony. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

A man died in a road accident in Malir City on Monday.

A speeding bus swerved off the road and ran on to a pavement killing an unidentified man on the spot and injuring another.

The police said that a speeding bus of route 15-E hit a minibus, a taxi and finally ran on to the pavement where two men were standing.

The injured man was admitted to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre (JPMC).

The police claimed to have arrested the bus driver, Habib.

SUICIDE: A young man committed suicide in Kalakot, Lyari, on Monday.

The police said that Mohammed Arif, aged 22, a heroin addict, killed himself by self-immolation.

He asked for money from his family. When the family refused to give him money, he went out of the house, took out petrol from a vehicle, doused his body in petrol and set himself on fire.

He was rushed to Civil Hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Sources at the hospital said that Arif had suffered 100 per cent burns.
