Fake beverages factory unearthed

GUJRANWALA, Feb 16: A fake beverages factory was unearthed in Baghbanpura on Sunday.

The district administration officials, with the help of police, raided a house in Baghbanpura on complaints and recovered 673 bottles of fake soft drinks and machinery from there.

Factory owners Muhammad Bashir and Muhammad Sharif escaped on seeing the police. A case has been registered against them.

SHOT DEAD: A dental surgeon was gunned down by his rivals in Noor Kot village on Sunday.

According to report reaching here, Dr Shahid was intercepted by Tajamal Husain, Kashif Ali, Shahbaz and their accomplices near his house. The accused opened fire following exchange of hot words with the doctor.

The dentist received four bullets and died on way to the DHQ Hospital.

ROAD ACCIDENTS: Three people were killed while around three dozen others were injured in two road accidents in and around the city on Sunday.

A speeding Gujrat-bound wagon collided with a stationary truck parked along the road near Sadhoki. As a result, Muhammad Usman and Saleem died on the spot while around a dozen others were injured.

The condition of the injured was stated to be critical at the DHQ Hospital.

The driver of a Pasrur-bound bus lost control over the steering near Sialkot Road bypass intersection while attempting to save a passer-by. The vehicle overturned, as a result Sultana Bibi of Dharam Kot died on the spot while around two dozen other passengers were injured.

Driver Fiaz Ahmad and conductor Rashid Javed were among the injured admitted to the civil hospital in critical condition.

DACOITY BID: Residents foiled a dacoity attempt in Artali Virkan village with the help of police on Sunday.

According to reports reaching here, six dacoits stormed into the house of Bashir Ahmad and attempted to lock-up the inmates in a room. The dacoits opened fire when the inmates raised alarm and neighbours gathered around the house.

Meanwhile, a police party on patrol also reached there. One of the dacoits injured in the shootout which continued for sometime. The dacoits escaped with their injured accomplice.

The hunt for the dacoits was on till late on Sunday night.

WARNING: The people involved in aerial firing, displaying crackers and using metal wire on the eve of Basant on Feb 20 would be arrested on the spot.

DPO Saud Aziz said here on Sunday that special raiding teams had been constituted to apprehend the violators. He said that the lawlessness would not be tolerated at any cost.
