DHAKA, March 9 One of the Bangladeshi army's top officers was killed on Monday when his helicopter crashed in the north of the country, police said.

Major General Rafiqul Islam died after the chopper apparently lost control, hit a banyan tree and plunged into a small body of water near the town of Tangail, local police chief Feroz Khan said.

Another officer was killed in the crash, while the co-pilot of the helicopter was in a critical condition.—AFP
