DERA MURAD JAMALI, Feb 14: Jafferabad police foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs from Balochistan to Sindh and recovered over nine maunds of hashish on Friday.

The police working on a tip-off tried to stop a suspected Land Cruiser coming from Quetta and heading for Jacobabad. But, the driver, who was later identified as Syed Ishaq, did not stop and instead accelerated the speed. The police opened fire at the vehicle and forced it to stop. The driver received bullets in both of his legs.

After thorough search of the vehicle, the police recovered the hashish hidden in secret cavities. The driver during interrogation had disclosed about his other connections and accomplices, the police said.—APP
