KARACHI, Nov 27: Under the provincial reforms programme, the Sindh government plans to undertake a survey of pensioners to weed out ‘Ghost Pensioners’ from March to Sept 2002.

It also plans to establish a provincial pension fund, expected to be announced with or before the annual budget for the next financial year and initiate capitalization of the pension fund and recapitalization of the general provident fund, official sources said.

The pension fund might be notified in March and initiation of its capitalization as well as that of G.P. fund is expected in June next year.

The pension and G.P. fund records need to be computerized to minimize malpractice and prevent fraudulent payments. This will also expedite finalization of pension cases and G.P fund final payment cases.—PPI
