QUETTA, Feb 9: Balochistan will get $18.9 million as its share in the $350 million Asian Development Bank loan for implementing a programme for access to justice,a meeting, presided over by Chief Minister Jam Mir Mohammed Yousaf, was told on Sunday.

ADB mission’s president, Douglas Pota, and director, Hamid Sharif, attended the meeting.

The meeting was informed that the bank was extending the loan to the country for implementing the programme.

Under the programme, the provincial government would provide necessary resources to the judiciary, police and levies and projects regarding construction and repair of their buildings and jails would be launched in all districts.

The scheme would be completed in five years under the public sector development programme, for which a project coordination committee, led by additional chief secretary, development and planning, was constituted.

The meeting discussed the reservations of the province regarding conditions and implementation of the programme. It was informed that the provincial government would prepare PC-1 of various projects.

It was informed that the government wanted to include the district public safety commissions in the programme to make it more stable and effective.

The chief minister said the programme would help in speedy and cheap delivery of justice, making the police system stable and upholding of supremacy of law.

He directed the coordination committee to finalize the projects on the ecommendations of the departments concerned.

The president of the ADB mission said conditions and reservations of Balochistan would be considered to ensure implementation of the programme in the province. Home Minister Sardar Sanullah Zehri was also present.
