PESHAWAR, Feb 8: A team of medical experts from UK has expressed interest in providing training facilities to develop trauma life support system in the Fata and settled areas of the Frontier province.

The team comprising Sir Terence English of St. Halida’s College, London, and Prof John P. Beavies, called on the provincial health minister Inayatullah Khan and offered training facilities to cope with acute trauma emergency in these areas in a better way, according to a handout issued on Saturday.

The minister told the delegation that the government had almost finalized a relief package to provide free and quality emergency care facilities at the state-run hospitals.

Giving details of the proposed package, Mr Khan said that a training programme for personnel involved in emergency handling, preparation of standard list of emergency medicines and equipments would be major components of the package so as to ensure its successful implementation.

Provincial health secretary Arshad Mirza, Gandhara Institute of Medical Sciences, Chairman Dr Mohammad Kabir and high officials of health department were also present on this occasion.

The minister also appreciated the offer by the visiting experts, assuring them of every possible cooperation for effective utilization of their services to strengthen emergency services in NWFP and Fata.
