SHIKARPUR, Feb 7: The Sindh president of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA), MNA Asadullah Bhutto, has said that Sindh was being deprived of its due share of water, which had resulted in serious problems for the agricultural sector.

He said this while addressing a press conference at Madrassa Furqania Hall on Wednesday night.

He demanded of the government to ensure Sindh its due water share and improve the system of water distribution for the growers of tail-end areas to enable them to cultivate their crops.

Mr Asadullah accused President Pervez Musharraf of creating political instability in Sindh by installing a fragile coalition government through non-democratic means.

He asked Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad to avoid exercising power above the powers of governor and not to interfere in the constitutional powers of the elected chief minister who was the real elected ruler in Sindh.

He strongly opposed the government’s pro-American policies, which had harmed our national welfare policies and programmes.

He demanded their withdrawal in the interest of the nation and solidarity of the country.

Mr Asadullah said that the US was not sincere with the Muslims, and itself flagrantly violated human rights as well as other international laws while accusing others of doing so.

He expressed resentment over the anti-Muslim attitude of the US and its intentions to attack Iraq and other countries which supported it.

He said that the US had no right or authority to make changes in the leadership of Iraq and other countries, and added that it was the sole prerogative of the people of their respective countries.

He demanded that jobs be provided to educated youth on an urgent basis.

He threatened to launch a protest campaign against the rulers if their pro-America policies and “anti-democratic activities” were not stopped immediately.

MAN KILLED: A man, Abdul Haq Mahar, was killed while another injured in an armed clash between two groups of the Mehar tribe in the Aamil Mahar village on Wednesday.

The Mahmoodabad police registered a case.
