HYDERABAD, Feb 6: Hundreds of rickshaw drivers staged a protest rally here on Thursday against the murder of a rickshaw driver, Naimatullah Khan.

The protesting rickshaw drivers placed the body of the deceased on the road, leading to the local press club, which remained blocked for over an hour.

They warned the administration that if the murderers of Khan were not arrested in three days, the rickshaw drivers of Hyderabad would observe a strike and block the roads.

Khan was stabbed to death by some unidentified persons on Wednesday night in the jurisdiction of the Bhitai Nagar police.

Some unidentified persons hired his rickshaw from the Doctors’ Colony for Bhitai Nagar past midnight. When the rickshaw reached near the road, leading to Marvi Garden turning, the passengers repeatedly stabbed its driver, killing him on the spot.

The accused did not rob the victim.

Khan, 25, was from Swat and temporarily living here in the Doctors’ Colony area.

His body is being sent to his native place.

The Bhitai Nagar police have registered a murder case on the complaint of Usman Pathan against unidentified assailants.

COPYING CASES: The controller of examinations, University of Sindh, on Wednesday advised candidates who were reported for copying in BEd, MEd, LLB, MSc, MCom and PGD Public Administration in examinations of 2001 to appear before the discipline committee on Feb 8.
