HYDERABAD, Feb 6: A sub-inspector and a Lance Naik were arrested on Thursday for torturing a man, Dur Mohammad, in detention and misuse of authority.

The arrests were ordered by the Regional Police Officer, Abdul Rauf Yousufzai.

The arrested policemen were identified as SIP Naseer Soomro and Lance Naik Sudhir Ahmed of the Anti-Dacoity and Robbery Cell.

The complainant, Dur Muhammad had appeared before the RPO and informed him about his ordeal.

SNATCHED: Three armed bandits on Wednesday snatched an unregistered motorcycle belonging to Haji Javed, additional SHO of the Market police station, at gunpoint near the St. Mary’s Girls’ High School, which falls under the jurisdiction of the City police station.

According to police, Javed has identified one of his accomplices as Mumtaz Chandio of the Jeay Sindh Students Federation. A case has been registered in this regard.

SUSPENDED: The district police officer (DPO), Hyderabad, A. D. Khwaja, suspended five investigation officials of the Matiari police station on Wednesday for keeping a trader of Multan, Fareed Ahmed Qureshi, in illegal confinement.

The Matiari investigation officials had picked up the trader a few days back and were holding him in illegal confinement at some private place.

The DPO was tipped off about it, so he asked the ASP, Latifabad, Mujahid Akbar Aziz, to verify facts. The ASP raided the Matiari police station as well as the private place and recovered the trader.

The ASP submitted his report to the DPO.

Those suspended are Inspector Rasool Bux Siyal, ASI Photo Kalhoro, Constable Imam Bux Jut, Constable Aachar and Constable Wahid Bux.
