PESHAWAR, Nov 26: At least seven Afghan children, including four girls, sustained injuries when a cluster bomb went off in the Afghan side of the Torkham border on Monday.

Witnesses said that children found the bomblet in the fields on the other side of the Durand Line and started playing with it, which later exploded.

As a result of the explosion seven children received serious wounds and were rushed to Peshawar. The injured include Meena, Huma, Nagina, Gul Sanga, Sheen Agha and Siffat, while the name of another victim could not be ascertained.

The Human Rights Watch recently released a report according to which around 5,000 cluster bombs are scattered in Afghanistan. The report said that the bombs posed serious threat to the local population.
