Annemarie Schimmel remembered

BAHAWALNAGAR, Feb 1: The government should include some of the works of Dr Annemarie Schimmel in the syllabus.

This was demanded by the speakers at a seminar held by non-governmental organization RASTAH on Saturday to remember the late Dr Annemarie Schimmel who has done research on Islam and sufism.

The speakers appreciated her work on sufi poets of the subcontinent and Poet of the East Muhammad Iqbal. She was awarded International Iqbal Award and a gold medal by the Iqbal Academy, Lahore. The seminar, attended by a large number of people from literary circles, was chaired by district Naib Nazim Mian Shaukat Ali Lalika.
