KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) late on Thursday announced to observe a ‘peaceful day of mourning’ across Sindh against brutal killings of its activists and office bearers, DawnNews reported.

The party has appealed its workers to remain peaceful and hoist black flags throughout the day. Transport and businesses will be operational as usual, they announced.

The announcement came after a series of killing in which several party workers and leaders were targeted including Mohammad Faisal, the MQM’s joint unit-incharge of UC-5 sector Mehmoodabad.

Meanwhile, MQM chief Altaf Hussain apprised over telephone President Asif Ali Zardari about the terrorist activities against his party workers and office bearers.

The president appreciated MQM’s restraint against the provocative acts and vowed to struggle together in theses adverse circumstances.
