Published February 1, 2003

PESHAWAR, Jan 31: The Chitralis on Friday demanded of the government to financially compensate the families of the seven people killed by an avalanche near Lawari Top some four days ago.

About 100 people from different parts of the Chitral district assembled in front of the Peshawar Press Club to protest the killing of seven people.

The demonstrators, carrying placards and banners chanted slogans against the district government and demanded the construction the long awaited tunnel.

They believed the mishap was the result of negligence by the officials concerned.
