Musharraf summoned to explain objections in appeal

ISLAMABAD: Former President Pervez Ali Musharraf was summoned to explain objections pertaining to the appeal filed by him against the rejection of his nomination papers by Returning Officers (ROs) on Thursday, DawnNews reported.

The election tribunal in Rawalpindi had earlier reserved its judgment on the appeal filed by the former president against the rejection of his nomination papers for the NA-48 constituency.

The Election Commission's RO had cancelled Musharraf’s nomination papers in three constituencies —Karachi (NA 250), Islamabad (NA-48) and Kasur (NA-139) whereas the RO in Chitral (NA 32) dismissed all objections to his candidature, contending that he had not been convicted in any case so far.

In separate news, former leader of the opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan’s nomination papers were accepted by the Election Tribunal.

Earlier, a returning officer had rejected Nisar’s papers during the scrutiny process because he had not declared his assets in full.

The former opposition leader belonging to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz had filed an appeal against the decision before the Election Tribunal, which was accepted, setting aside the decision of the RO.

Welcome to the Nation called Pakistan and people termed as Pakistanis: Cowards, Insensitive, Racists, Extremists, ... embodiment of all what is evil. Sorry. The exisiting dismal state of affairs is a clear proof. Positive change will come from within the common masses and not by electing Jagirdars, Generals, Wadairas, Chauderies, Khans, etc. These are the same people who have RUINED THE BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY, ONCE IT WAS. These are the traitors to the nation and its people while the COMMON PERSON SUFFERS. Sorry if I hurt feelings of the sincere nationalists. But the FACT is a FACT. Bring about a REVOLUTION from within the common people. This is the ONLY solution.

Well, it is quite clear that Musharraf will be given a hard time just because of the egos involved. I find the process of submitting the nomination papers pathetic. The returning officers should only check the papers if they are OK. What is the point in asking people personal questions?. Whose idea was it anyway?.
