THE morning of April 7, 2012, brought deep grief for Pakistan. More than 100 soldiers were martyred when an avalanche hit their headquarters in Gayari sector in Siachen.

The temperature was minus 70 degrees Celsius and in those harsh conditions our brave soldiers were buried 70 feet under a huge mass of snow.

Since the day Pakistan came into being, our security forces, especially the army, are doing everything for the sake of the motherland and their fight against terrorism has been highlighted all over the world.

One year has passed to this shocking and sad incident, but only a few of our news channels presented tribute of more than five minutes to these martyrs, the rest of them were showing ‘how to control blood pressure’ as it was the theme of the World Health Day.

I praise the martyrs of the Gayari sector and all security officials working for the existence of the country and giving their lives without thinking about their families.

Pakistan Zindabad!
