LAHORE, April 6: The returning officer accepted nomination papers of PTI Chairman Imran Khan for NA-122 on Saturday.

A voter of the constituency, Muhammad Aslam, had objected to the candidacy of Imran Khan on the basis of having alleged relations with a European woman, Sita White.

The plaintiff alleged that Mr Khan and White had also a daughter out of their relations. He further alleged that Jamima Khan, former wife of Imran Khan, was no more a Muslim but she still had custody of his kids.

He pleaded that the PTI chairman was liable to be disqualified under articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution.

Advocate Hamid Khan appeared on behalf of Imran Khan and argued that all allegations were fabricated and the outcome of a vilification campaign. The RO rejected the objections and accepted the nomination papers.

The RO of NA-127 accepted the papers of former PML-N MNA Naseer Ahmad Bhutta. His candidature was challenged on the grounds of being defaulter of Lesco. However, Mr Bhutta through his counsel submitted a clearance certificate to this effect.

Papers of Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Akhtar Rasool, and Saba Sadiq were also accepted from different constituencies of national assemblies.

Meanwhile, objections were filed against the candidature of PML-N chief Nawaz  Sharif from NA-120 and Khurram Latif Khosa from NA-127.

Advocate Robinson challenged the nomination papers of Mr Sharif holding him responsible for the Kargil war. He also accused Nawaz Sharif of concealing national and foreign assets.

Arif Mahmood of PTI objected to the candidacy of Mr Khosa and pointed out that the respondent was a legal advisor of Lesco and was using a 1600CC car provided by Gepco.

Nomination papers of Ayesha Ahad Malik and PML-N former MPA Khwaja Imran Nazir were also challenged.

Mr Nazir was accused of having a fake degree of graduation while Ms Malik was accused of concealing details of her agricultural lands and foreign visits.

All the candidates were directed to file their replies by Sunday (today), the last day of the scrutiny process.
