KARACHI: Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA) will be taking concrete steps to ensure improved performances from the Karachi teams in all formats of the game, secretary Prof Ejaz Ahmed Faruqi said on Thursday.

“We are taking measures to enforce strict discipline and improve the performances of the teams in first class, one-day and Twenty20 formats,” he said.

“KCCA Executive Committee has issued show-cause notices to Sohail Khan, Fawad Alam and Khalid Latif for breach of code of conduct in the recenttl held Twenty20 Cup and their replies are being awaited,” the KCCA secretary said.

Faruqi admitted that KCCA Council was upset with the below par performance of Mohammad Sami’s Karachi Dolphins side in Lahore. However, at the same time, he complimented Karachi Blues for winning the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy and the Karachi Zebras for sharing the Faysal Bank One-Day Cricket Tournament title with Lahore Lions.

He further said that both Karachi Blues and Karachi Zebras outfits will be honoured at a reception very soon for their outstanding performances.

Faruqi disclosed that a marathon meeting was recently held under the chairmanship of KCCA President Sirajul Islam Bukhari to determine the cause of Dolphins’ poor show in Super Eight Twenty20. The meeting was also attended by captain Mohammad Sami, coach Tauseef Ahmed and manager Visal Ansari.—APP
