KARACHI, Jan 29: Medical superintendent of the Abassi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) and head of the department of its neuro-surgery department, Dr Masood Javed, has agreed to take back his resignation and is expected to resume his duties by the end of this week.

Dr Masood Javed had rendered his resignation about two weeks back due to growing political pressures. He was appointed on contract basis as professor in the Karachi Medical and Dental College (KMDC) and head of the department of neuro-surgery in ASH in March last year. City Nazim Naimatullah Khan had recently made Dr Masood MS of the hospital.

Dr Masood Javed had rendered his resignation because of life-threatening calls he had been receiving at his residence. But the Nazim has rejected the resignation and talked to the governor Sindh about it.

According to sources in the city government, governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad asked MQM leader Aftab Sheikh to look into the matter and request Dr Masood to take back his resignation.—PPI
