Hameed’s 101 in vain

KARACHI, Oct 9 : A stylish knock of 101 runs by Mohammad Hameed Tanoli, could not help Cantt Sports of reaching the next round of the All Karachi Lala Rab Nawaz Memorial cricket tournament, going down by eight wickets to Aga Khan Gymkhana at the latter’s ground.

Having first use of the turf wicket, Cantt Sports batting first scored 179 for eight wickets in 35.

Apart from Tanoli’s ton which contained seven boundaries and one six, Tariq Mahmood (20) was the only other batsman reach double figures.

Needing 180 runs for victory, Aga Khan Gymkhana got off to a splendid start when Zulifqar P. Khan (86) and Javaid Mansoor (70), put on 152 runs for the first wicket.

Both were dismissed in quick succession but Aga Khan Gymkhana cruised to a an eight-wicket victory with 10 overs to spare.
