Kamran hammers fine century

KARACHI, Nov 25: Left-hander Kamran Hussain scored the first century in the Third All Karachi Nazimabad Trophy League cricket tournament, blasting seven boundaries and nine huge sixes in his hurricane knock of 139 runs, as Delhi City Gymkhana beat Zamir Khan CC by 14 runs at the FC Area ground.

After Kamran and Asif Ali Senior (50), put on 202 runs for the opening wickets, Delhi City Gym reached 216 for 4 in their allotted 20 overs.

Leg-spinner Arsalan Anwar bagged three of the four wickets that fell for 31 runs.

Zamir Khan CC took up the challenge of scoring 217 runs for victory, but fell short of the winning total by 15 runs after being dismissed for 202 runs with three deliveries to spare.

Adil Qureshi batted well for his knock of 50, and the same can be said about Akbar Alam 36 and Qanbar Ali 28.

For the winners, the wickets were shared by Shahid Murtaza 2/27, Zohair Butt 2/22 and Asif Ali Jr. 2/18.

In another match reduced to only 15 overs due to a late start, Nazeer Gymkhana beat Opera CC by seven wickets.

Opera CC batting first reached 113 for 9, through Jamil Ahmed 41, Anis ur Rehman and Adeel Ahmed with 21 runs apiece.

Nazeer Gymkhana replied with 117 for 3 in only 13 overs with Chanzaib Malik 76 and Shahzad Cayyah 30 leading the way.
