KARACHI, March 18: A spokesman for the Sindh local government department on Monday clarified that the LG system of 1979 had been restored completely across the province and all town/taluka municipal administrations (TMAs) had been abolished.

A handout said that all district municipal corporations, municipal corporations, municipal committees, district councils, town committees and union councils had been restored on Feb 27 vide order No SO (A)/LG/4(37)/2011.

Since the TMAs had been abolished therefore, the question of retaining the officers did not arise, it said, adding that all officers concerned of the TMAs had been relieved to report to the Sindh LG Board for further posting. —PPI
