ISLAMABAD: A day before the dissolution of the countries assemblies, Pakistan Peoples Party MNA Jamshed Dasti has announced that he is leaving the party, DawnNews reported.

Dasti said that he will contest in the general elections from NA 177 and NA 178 constituencies as an independent candidate. He also said that he would defeat Hina Rabbani Khar in the polls.

Dasti had been elected from the Muzaffargarh NA-178 constituency in the 2008 elections and later on re-elected through by-elections.

In the last few days the election commission had sent Dasti a notice with regards to a probe into his fake degree case. The election commission also told Muzaffargarh officials to start legal proceedings against him.
