NOWSHERA, April 26: Workers Ittehad, a splinter group of Pakistan People’s Party, and Qaumi Watan Party have reached an understanding on seats adjustment in two provincial assembly and one National Assembly constituencies of Nowshera district.

Leaders of Workers Ittehad, led by PPP’s former provincial president Senator Sardar Ali Khan, and QWP held a meeting at the hujra (guesthouse) of QWP candidate for PK-14 Fayyaz Khan here on Friday, where they decided to support each others candidates in the coming elections.

The meeting was also attended by WI candidate for NA-5 Shahzad Ali, son of Sardar Ali, QWP candidate for PK-13 Zulfiqar Aziz and other leaders.

They decided that the Workers Ittehad would extend support to QWP’s candidate on PK-13 and PK-14, while in return the QWP would support Shahzad Ali on NA-5, Nowshera-I.

Talking to Dawn, Sardar Ali said that he had resigned from the basic membership of the party on March 19, 2013. He said that he had sent his resignation to the PPP high command after he was issued a show-cause notice by the party’s district president Tariq Khattak.

He said that he had expressed certain reservations about the party decisions, especially the appointment of Tariq Khattak as district president and award of ticket to him to contest election to the National Assembly.

Meanwhile, the Awami National Party has made it clear that its workers are ready for rendering any sacrifice for the sake of country. — Correspondent
