JHANG, Jan 25: The Punjab government has decided against installing more tubewells in areas falling within the revenue limits of Chiniot tehsil for the supply of water to Faisalabad.

This was stated by provincial Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Syed Ali Raza Gilani in a meeting in Chiniot.

He said the government was considering to get water from the Jhang Branch Canal as an alternate arrangement to solve the water crisis in Faisalabad.

For this purpose, he said the government was consulting with the Japanese firm who had approved a grant of Rs3.5 billion for the mega water supply project.

FAISALABAD: A strategy has been chalked out to utilize a huge Japanese grant and reservations of Chiniotis will be resolved positively.

This was stated by the Faisalabad Development Authority’s Governing Body chairman, Mumtaz Ali Cheema, while talking to newsmen here on Saturday.

The FDA Chief, Mumtaz Ali Cheema, who is also the City Nazim, was also present on the occasion.
