13 people arrested

RAWALPINDI, Jan 24: The police have arrested 13 people in a pre-dawn raid in Chontra and seized illegal weapons from them, the authorities said.

They said during Friday’s swoop, six persons, including a proclaimed offender, were arrested and weapons seized from them. Seven other persons were also booked on charges of providing them shelter. The weapons seized during Friday’s swoop included, two rifles, a 30-bore pistol and one 7mm rifle.

The raid was led by the deputy superintendent of police, Syed Ishtiaq Shah, who was accompanied by two police and two Elite force reserves, the authorities said.
