KARACHI, Jan 22: The Green Bus Company, which launched its operations only two months back, has started violating the rules.

The Green Bus Company was given the route from Tower to Gulistan-i-Jauhar with their four CNG buses by the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) .

While coming from Tower and going to Gulistan-i-Jaughar, instead of turning right from Jauhar Chowrangi for Pehalwan Goth, the buses turn left for Samama Shopping Centre and end up at Safoora Goth via the University Road.

Residents of the area have lodged a written complaint in this regard maintaining that there is no public transport service from Jauhar Chowrangi to the left side. From Jauhar Choarangi to the KDA flats there is only one G-5 minibus service, that goes from this roundabout to the Nipa and Gulshan roundabout and then to Nazimabad.

This part of Gulistan-i-Jauhar is one of the most populous areas. There are about 350 units in the KDA flats and more than 400 units in the adjacent apartments, besides a large number of residential units.

The special permission for a tentative route from Gulistan-i-Jaughar to Tower was given to the Green Bus company by city Nazim Naimatullah Khan, for test trial of the CNG buses imported from China.

However, the decision to make alterations to the route could be taken by the RTA and the TCD, and these authorities are responsible to ensure that transporters are plying buses, minibuses and coaches at the routes allotted to them.—PPI
