ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Wednesday urged leaders of all faiths and religions to stand united and strive for peace and security.

Addressing a conference organised here by the Ministry of National Harmony, the prime minister referred to the recent incidents of terrorism and said “let’s come out of this perpetual sense of fear that haunts us all, and where no place is safe anymore”.

He referred to the Hazaras as brothers and patriotic Pakistanis and said the nation was deeply saddened over the plight they underwent in the recent attacks.

“There can be no justification for the murder of the innocent. Who can justify the killing of a child, women or a man who is trying to earn a living?” he said.

Prime Minister Ashraf said no one should take law into their own hands, adding that it was the responsibility of the government to ensure law and order.

He said every citizen was obliged to abide by the law and understand their obligations.

The premier said Pakistan could not live in isolation and had to live with peace and tranquility with its neighbours.

He said no one had the right to impose his or her will on others.

“Let everyone follow whatever he wishes and if there is a conflict, then they should follow the path of dialogue,” Prime Minister Ashraf said.

The prime minister urged religious leaders of all faiths to stand united and preach the message of love and peace across the country.

He said the interfaith conference was a much-needed event to deliberate on an issue that was a challenge for the country.

Minister for National Harmony Paul Jacob Bhatti said the conference was aimed at creating a conducive environment, as the country was passing through a critical juncture.
