GILGIT, Feb 19: The government is endeavouring to build the capacity of the government employees to enable them to deliver in a befitting manner.

Chief Secretary Sajjad Salim Hotiyana was taking keen interest in enhancing the capabilities of the employees so that their performance could be improved, said official sources on Tuesday.

The administration officials told Dawn on condition of anonymity that, “The chief secretary is focusing on imparting professional trainings to those working in GB government for the sake of expeditious development of the region.”

They said the chief secretary held a meeting with former federal secretary cabinet division Ejaz Rahim in Islamabad and sought his expertise on how to improve the capacity of the employees.

The sources said Chief Minister Syed Mehdi Shah was also present during the meeting, which agreed to chalk out a comprehensive plan to materialise the points discussed.

The sources said since there was no professional training institute in the region lower and higher grade employees had to go to other areas to get required training, adding establishing such institutes in GB was also under consideration.

PROTEST: The sit-ins staged in various areas of the region against massacre of Hazaras in Quetta continued on the second day on Tuesday. The protests were staged on the appeal of Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslimeen and Shia Ulema Council.

Hundreds of people attended the protests demanding arrest of the perpetrators of the attack. Displaying placards inscribed with demands to hand over Quetta to army the protesters vowed to remain on roads till culprits were not arrested.
