PESHAWAR, Feb 18: Government contractors from Bajuar tribal region have accused the officials of government departments of awarding contacts of different development schemes in violation of the relevant rules and demanded probe into the matter. Haji Gul Karim Khan, a representative of the all government contractors, speaking at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Monday, said tenders worth millions of rupees for more than 15 schemes of roads infrastructure development had been awarded on the basis of favoritism and nepotism. Flanked by other contractors, Mr Khan demanded immediate cancellation of the contracts and re-tendering of the projects so that the unrest among the contractors could be removed. He informed that more than 30 contractors had submitted applications by following the procedure, but forms were only distributed among five favourite contractors without following any procedure, inflicting huge losses to national exchequer.—Bureau Report
