KARACHI: Railwaymen stage demo

Published January 22, 2003

KARACHI, Jan 21: A large number of railway workers staged a demonstration on Tuesday to protest against the forced retirements, sackings, and transfers in the organization.

Speaking at the demonstration at the Press Club, the leaders of the Railway Workers Inqilabi Union and Railway Workers Federation demanded that all those sacked and sent on forced retirement be immediately reinstated.

They demanded a high-level inquiry into the financial affairs of the organization as according to them the former railways minister Javed Ashraf Qazi had indulged in misappropriation of funds.
