LAHORE, Feb 9: People’s Party Punjab president Manzoor Wattoo on Saturday said the Metro Bus service would prove a burden on the province like the sasti roti, mechanical tanoor, yellow cab, laptop, Ashiana and Ujala projects launched by Shahbaz Sharif-led provincial government.

Talking to the media after meeting President Asif Ali Zardari in front of Bilawal House here, Wattoo said the PML-N announcement of launching the rapid bus service in all big cities of Punjab was a mere election stunt.

He said spending the entire province’s resources on just one road of a city was illegal and unprincipled, and was an example of the worst governance.

He said instead of the bus project that was likely to resolve just five per cent of the city’s traffic problems, a comprehensive health or education project could have been initiated for the entire province with the same amount.

He said the people had now identified “political jugglers” and they won’t be hoodwinked by them as they had become tired of the “flopped projects” and “plunder” of public money by the PML-N leaders. “They (people) would reject them (PML-N) for good in the coming elections,” he said.

Wattoo said the people of Sindh were devoted to the PPP and even 100 political parties could not change their loyalty to the party. He said all efforts aimed at delaying elections would fail.—Staff Reporter
