HBL move into last eight

KARACHI, Jan 19: Habib Bank (HBL) cruised into quarterfinals after a 2-0 victory over Shahzad Mohammadan in the All-Pakistan Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto football tournament at Shafi Stadium Sunday.

The bankers forged 1-0 ahead in the 30th minute when Pervaiz Ahmad banged home a Mohammad Ayub pass. HBL were 2-0 up with Ayub slamming home after being set up by Amjad Yousuf in the 53rd minute.

Askani Brothers also qualified for the last eight when they defeated Balochistan Police 4-3 on penalty shootout after both the sides remained locked at 0-0.

Afghan Club Chaman (ACC) reached last 16 after they held Jam Eleven to a goalless draw.

Both teams played with ten players after red cards in the first half.

Haji Ahmad Sheikh of ACC received marching orders after dissent and misconduct in the 17th minute, while Jam Eleven’s Karim Bukhsh was sent off after he collected his second yellow in the 23rd minute.
