TIMERGARA, Feb 8: The Lower Dir chapter of the Jamaat-i-Islami on Friday demanded of the chief election commissioner to impose ban on utilisation of government funds in the district.

The JI district secretary information, Malik Sher Bahadar, while talking to local journalists said that a meeting of the district executive body was held at Balambat with district amir Maulana Asadullah in the chair. Members of the district shura and unit chiefs attended the meeting.

The meeting discussed the political situation in the district in detail and pointed out that the sitting lawmakers and ministers of PPP and ANP had been distributing plastic pipes, cement and cash among the people for petty and personal developmental works.

The participants expressed grave concern and anger on the situation and termed it as a ‘political bribe’ ahead of elections. They alleged that the ruling parties were engaged in pre-poll rigging. —Correspondent
