Body to monitor jail affairs

MIRPURKHAS, Jan 19: An eight-member committee has been constituted to monitor prisons and improve the conditions of prisoners in Mirpurkhas.

According to a handout issued on Saturday, the committee will be headed by the district Naib Nazim, Mohammad Younus Talpur, while Shamsuddin Shaikh, Abdul Aziz Memon, social workers Dr Ali Nawaz Shahani, Zahida Detho, Nazim Union Council Umerkot Lal Malhi, and the superintendent, Mirpurkhas district jail, will be its members.

PPP: The Pakistan Peoples Party, Mirpurkhas district, in a meeting held on Sunday disbanded all bodies of Kunri Taluka.

It appointed Mohammad Hashim Gishkori as the caretaker president of the Taluka and directed him to visit all union councils there and complete the bodies.

JI: The Ameer, Jamat-i-Islami, Mirpurkhas, Azizur Rehman, its general secretary, Jameel Baloch, and the president of the MMA, Lala Noor Mohammad, have condemned the arrests of the workers and office bearers of the JI in Karachi and raids at their houses terming it a conspiracy to create lawlessness in the provincial capital.

In a statement issued on Saturday, they alleged that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement was “involved in the recent killing of youths in Karachi” but they nominated the office bearers of the JI as accused in the cases to cover up their internal differences.

ROBBERIES: The Petroleum Dealers Association, Mirpurkhas, has expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the district as a large amount of money had been looted from five petrol pumps.
