KARACHI, Jan 19: The city government has taken no decision so far on the abandoned projects initiated by the defunct KMC in former district south at a cost of millions of rupees.

Most of the projects launched several years ago in Lyari area were left half-way. It is learnt that the municipal administration of Lyari Town has drawn the attention of the City Nazim for an early execution of these uplift projects. The projects include KMC market at Bizenjo Chowk in Chawkiwara, Khadda super market scheme, international football stadium and a polytechnic institute for women.

In a communication, the Lyari Town Nazim has urged the City Nazim to immediately start work on the uplift projects.

A survey shows that the projects had been launched in the ‘90s and were wilfully neglected due to bureaucratic wranglings and thus wasting public money.

Major works on some of the projects had been in an advance stage but were left abandoned and now the projects look deserted and need proper maintenance.
