ISLAMABAD, Feb 6: The Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Gen Khalid Shamim Wynne, and Auditor General of Pakistan Mohammad Akhtar Buland Rana have decided to streamline the audit of defence services funds.

According to an announcement on Wednesday, Gen Wynne and Mr Rana at a meeting in Rawalpindi also decided to improve the working of the directorate-general of defence services audit for the purpose of accountability and proper utilisation of the exchequer.

It was agreed that the Departmental Accounts Committee would be effectively used to discuss issues and the version of the entity being audited would be considered before finalisation of reports for submission to the Public Accounts Committee.

Mr Rana also held a meeting with Lt-Gen (retd) Khalid Ahmed Kidwai, Director-General of Strategic Plans Division, according to a press release issued by the AGP office. Different matters about audit and accounts and for building coordination between the two departments for better utilisation of funds came under discussion.
