Schools have started to introduce technology in teaching methods. These days, teachers give students homework that requires net surfing, and teach students through PowerPoint presentations.

Technology has made our lives easier and by including innovative methods to teach that require the use of internet and software like PowerPoint, the process of learning has become easier as well as interesting. With the passage of time, newer technologies and strategies to teach should be introduced in classrooms. Classrooms must have a computer with internet facility, for instance. Teachers should use projectors to teach instead of regular black/white board.

Here, I would also like to share with you some of my fantasies about a school that might become a reality in the years ahead. I would like schools to be a place where students can have real life experiences about people, places and time; they are taught about in the subjects of history, science, literature, etc.

I imagine a classroom that is designed in such a way that it gets transformed according to the time and location a student has been studying about — such as while studying about the Mughal era, a classroom presents a scenario of the Mughal times — so that students, instead of reading history books to get to know about the past, experience in the present times what had happened in our past! Another fantasy is for those students who face difficulty in understanding things. What if a chip can be inserted into their brain to provide them with all knowledge they face difficulty in?

I know you must be laughing at my ideas, but who knows, all of these dreams become a reality in future. Let your fantasies unfold! Shahzeb Khan, Karachi i

Conversation with a mosquito This is with reference to the article Conversation with a mosquito by Gulrukh Tausif (YW, Jan 12, 2013). It’s indeed worrisome that a small parasite can cause such hazardous diseases.

It’s not the responsibility of the government only or of a few individuals to take measures to keep our surroundings free from infectious diseases. As responsible citizens, it’s the duty of each and every individual to take care of the cleanliness of not only our homes, but also of our areas and cities — thus making the entire country neat and clean, free from all illnesses caused by insects like mosquito.

Wonders of the natural world Wonders of the Natural World is a fantastic column in Young World as it gives us thorough information about natural beauty around the world. I request the YW team to keep publishing such informative articles in future too.

Family reunion This is with reference to the story Family Reunion by Mariha Ghazal (YW, January 12, 2013). It was a nice story in which the writer beautifully portrayed the importance of family. The story taught me that family is the biggest support for us — whenever we are in any difficulty, it’s our family that supports us and helps us get out of trouble.

writer also emphasised the importance of ‘home’ — there is no place like home. We are safe only in our home and with our family.

I would like to add that the story was inspired from the movie Ratatouille. I would advise all young writers to be original as much as possible. Only that way you can make a big name for yourself — not only in the publishing industry but in any other field. In short, originality is the key to success.

Fear of failure I believe YW is the best magazine for getting knowledge, building the vocabulary, and for leisure reading. I liked the article Fear of failure by Gulrukh Tausif (January 12).

The writer really impressed me with her positive thoughts that we should not lose hope in the face of any kind of difficulties. From now on I will not be disappointed with my failures rather I will work hard to fulfill my ambitions.
