LAHORE: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Thursday demanded that all four provincial governors must be replaced with new non-political ones before the upcoming polls, DawnNews reported.

Speaking during a press conference, he said transparency of the general elections would be doubted with all four governors having political affiliations. He said the interim government should send them packing along with all high level government officers before polls.

Lauding performance of the PML-N, Nisar said the party has played its part for electoral reforms in the parliament. He informed that substantial progress has been made on the issue of caretaker setup.

Nisar said that holding elections within 90 days instead of 60 days of dissolution of the incumbent assemblies would not be a right decision.

Assailing the rulers, he said the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was not sincere in creating the South Punjab province. A drama is being staged in Sindh and Balochistan, he added while blaming all ruling parties for sabotaging peace in Karachi.

Moreover, the PML-N leader also advised Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf to resign from his post for a free trial of the RPPs case.

Declaring Dr Tahirul Qadri’s long march a “stage show,” he said those who made claims for forming “Tahrir Square” in Islamabad, returned home after being be-fooled.
