MANSEHRA, Jan 23: The intra-party differences in Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which had led to suspension of basic membership of Mohammad Safdar, were resolved here as Mr Safdar and district president Aslam Khan Baffa pledged to work together for the party cause.

“Now there is no rift in the party and we could get maximum seats in Mansehra and Hazara division in next general election,” said Akhtar Hussain Shah, former provincial minister, while speaking to reporters.

The reconciliation meeting was held here at the residence of Salahuddin Tirmizi and attended by the party office-bearers.

Mr Baffa, who is backed by provincial president Pir Sabir Shah and Sardar Mehtab Abbasi, has been leading the party in Mansehra district for last 15 years.

PML-N president Mian Nawaz Sharif had asked party’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa general secretary last year to suspend the basic membership of Mr Safdar after he publicly criticised Sabir Shah, Mehtab Abbasi and Mr Baffa. Mr Safdar’s membership was restored after he apologised to the three.

Sweets were also distributed among the participants after Mr Safdar and Mr Baffa hugged each other.

Akhtar Shah told media persons that Mr Tirmizi had summoned both the dissident groups on the orders Mr Sharif and convinced them to bury their differences for the party cause.

“The dissidents sit together and resolved their differences, which would boost the party’s position for the coming election,” said Mr Shah. He said that both the groups had empowered Mr Tirmizi to decide important matters of the party in the district.

Sources said that Mr Safdar told the meeting that he would work as a party worker and respect the decisions made by party’s provincial leadership.

Mr Baffa also pledged that he would perform his duty and follow the party discipline.

“I would work jointly with Mr Safdar for the cause of party in Hazara,” Mr Baffa told the meeting.
