LAHORE, Jan 19: Four labourers were found dead mysteriously at their workplace near Raiwind Bypass on Saturday morning.

Police initially suspected food poisoning behind the deaths. Saddar SP (Investigation) Agha Ramzan Ali told Dawn that police rushed to the spot on an emergency call and found the victims, aged between 25 and 30, lying dead with three of them vomited.

He said the victims, who were working in the factory of Haji Ashfaq, brought meal from a local village hotel at night and consumed it.

He said the labourers also took tea which was prepared by one of the victims’ family.

The SP said police quizzed the hotel staff and villagers about the food and got satisfied that whosoever except the victims took meal from the hotel remained normal. Ali said police collected necessary evidence from the spot and shifted the bodies for autopsy.

He said nothing other than some stale food and tea was found at the spot.

Javed and Chand were residents of Baggrian, Green Town, while Afzal and Aslam belonged to Nishtar Colony.

FOUND SLAIN: A watchman of a farm house was found slain at his workplace near Main Manga Road on Saturday morning.

Manga Mandi police said victim identified as Amanat alias Amanu was apparently attacked with a sharp-edged weapon.

Police inquiries showed that the victim had an affair with a woman that annoyed his wife who left him some time ago. The victim had also developed addiction.

Police have shifted the body for autopsy and started investigation.
