KARACHI, Jan 18: Karachi may soon witness a new skyline of high-rise buildings after the government approved a plan for the construction of a 42-storey building in the city.

The High Density Development Board (HDDB) approved the building plan of Hoshang Tower in a meeting attended by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan, Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Minister for Local Government Agha Siraj Durrani, Karachi Administer Mohammad Hussain Syed, Sindh Building Control Authority Director General Manzoor Qadir and others on Thursday.

The participants in the meeting were informed that the Hoshang Tower to be constructed on Hoshang Road (Claremont Road) in Civil Lines would have three basement floors and nine parking floors.

They were told that the estimated covered area of the building would be 224,700 square yards.

It would be constructed by the private sector with an estimated cost of Rs2 billion. Its total height would be 130 metres.

The chief minister and the governor highlighted the need for city’s rapid development and improving its civic infrastructure.—PPI
