KARACHI, Jan 14: An activist of Sunni Tehrik was shot dead in Orangi Town on Monday, police and party sources said.

They said armed men targeted 30-year-old Zahid Qadri in Sector 13 where he was sitting with friends. “Two bullets hit him and he died on the spot,” said an official at the Pakistan Bazaar police station.

“The attackers escaped after shooting. The body was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.”

A spokesman for the ST condemned the killing and said Mr Qadri was an active worker of the party in the area. “Over a few weeks, nearly a dozen of our workers have been killed in targeted attacks in a coordinated campaign.

“The terrorists have been allowed to sabotage peace of the city,” he said.

In Korangi, a former worker of the banned People’s Amn Committee was shot dead.

Police said 28-years-old Asif alias Kalia Pathan was going home when gunmen on a motorbike intercepted him near Bilal Colony in Sector 8-A.

“He received four bullets each to the chest, face, head and hand,” said an official at the Korangi Industrial Area police station. The victim had recently shifted to Korangi area.
