LAHORE, Jan 11: Police on Friday took the headmaster of a local school into custody for writing a ‘threatening’ letter to Governor Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood. The Governor’s House denied Mehmood received a letter from an extortionist.

Headmaster Mateen Shah of the Government Primary School, Baghbanpura reportedly wrote the letter mentioning the names and addresses of his two opponents on it. The police took them into custody and interrogated them, but they proved their innocence.

The Civil Lines Police got the handwriting checked and learnt that it was Mateen Shah’s. Police arrested him and registered a case against him.

On the other hand, Governor’s House insisted that the governor received no such letter. “The governor has not received any threatening letter,” it said in a statement.
